Guide for Keepers
THE RITUAL OF CARE
You are now a Keeper of Reality. What you hold is a physical anchor — a feeling extracted at the precise moment of its greatest intensity and sealed into permanent form. It is not meant to hang on a wall. It is meant to shift the atmosphere of your space.
The Unsealing
To awaken the full presence of a materialised Vortex, it must be treated as an artefact, not mere paper. Your print arrives flat-packed to protect the heavy 310gsm cotton fibres. The baryta surface is exquisitely detailed but delicate. Handle the print only by the extreme edges. Ensure your hands are clean and dry, or use cotton gloves to avoid transferring natural oils to the surface. Remove the archival sleeve only when you are ready to frame.
The Framing
Never let the print touch the glass directly — changes in humidity can cause the cotton paper to stick. Always use a mount (mat board) to create breathing room. For the fullest experience of the deep Dmax blacks and archival depth, we highly recommend anti-reflective museum glass such as Artglass or Tru Vue. Standard glass creates cheap glare that will flatten the shadows and diminish the emotional presence of the artwork. All prints include a white border specifically to facilitate clean, professional framing.
The Illumination
Screens emit light; cotton reflects it. To reveal the hidden brushstrokes and the true depth of the shadows, position your artwork where it can catch soft, warm, directional light — from a nearby lamp or wall light at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. A picture light mounted directly above the frame is the ideal solution. Avoid harsh, direct sunlight — it will cause even archival prints to fade over the decades. The right light does not simply illuminate the artwork. It brings it to life.
The Sanctuary
Once framed and illuminated, the artefact will take on a different mood as the light in your room changes throughout the day. Morning light will reveal different details to the warmth of the evening. The Vortex is now part of your reality — give it time to settle into its new space before you fully appreciate its presence.
The Storage
If you choose to store your artefact before framing, keep it flat in its archival sleeve in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Never put heavy objects on top of it. Never store it upright for long periods, as the paper may start to curl. The baryta surface is permanent but is highly susceptible to pressure marks — treat it with the same care you would give to any museum-quality work on paper.
The Vault FAQ
Everything you need to know before, during, and after your artefact arrives. If your question is not answered here, contact us at studio@kogosa.co.uk.
Are the prints limited edition?
Our foundational archives feature Open Edition collections. This allows new Keepers to begin their journey. Future Vaults or specific artefacts may be introduced as strictly limited, numbered runs.
How is the artwork packaged?
We never roll our 310 gsm cotton paper. Your print is protected by a clear archival sleeve or cello bags, sandwiched between rigid greyboards, wrapped in dark tissue paper with a wax seal, and shipped in a heavy-duty corrugated flat mailer.
At this time, Kogosa Studio delivers exclusively to addresses within the United Kingdom via Royal Mail Tracked 48.
How can I track my artefact?
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email containing your Royal Mail tracking number. You can track its progress to your address directly via the courier’s website.
How long does materialisation take?
We do not hold mass stock. Each item is custom-printed to order in our North Yorkshire studio. Please allow 3–5 working days for the careful production, curing and packaging of your print before it is dispatched.
What is the difference between A4 and A3?
A4 (210 × 297 mm) is an intimate format, perfect for smaller sanctuaries or gallery walls. A3 (297 × 420 mm) is a monumental statement piece that commands the room. Both formats include a white border to facilitate framing.
Do you accept custom commissions?
The Great Collector extracts moments as they resonate within the Vortex — this process cannot be directed or commissioned. Kogosa Studio does not offer custom illustrations or personalised character art at this time.
What if my artefact arrives damaged?
If your print arrives damaged by the journey, please contact us at studio@kogosa.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery. Include clear photographs of both the damaged packaging and the print. We will arrange a free replacement immediately.
